Povlja

Povlja is a small village on the island of Brač where in past were anchored Roman Galleons. Archeological findings evidence about the presence of life in Povlja still in ancient times whilst here are also preserved remnants of a basilica with octagonal baptistery with cupola, the only of this type preserved in Croatia. Basilica is from the Old Christian period. Inhabitants are occupied with tourism, agriculture, wine and olive-growing and fishery which is a guarantee of a good gastronomic offer and hospitality of Povlje inhabitants.
